Tax Information:
Based on IRS guidelines for gig workers:
- Income: Report all income, even if not reported on Forms 1099-K, 1099-MISC, or 1099-NEC. [](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/manage-taxes-for-your-gig-work)
- Expenses: Deduct ordinary and necessary expenses (e.g., fuel, maintenance). Use the standard mileage rate ($0.70/mile in 2025) or actual expenses. [](https://mileiq.com/mileage-guide/gig-work-tax-deductions)
- Self-Employment Tax: Pay 15.3% on net earnings over $400 (12.4% Social Security, 2.9% Medicare).
- Quarterly Taxes: Pay estimated taxes if expecting to owe $1,000+ annually (due April 15, June 15, September 15, January 15).
Important Notes:
- Inputs for income, expenses, and mileage must be non-negative numbers. Dates must be valid and not in the future.
- Save entries regularly; data is stored locally in your browser but may be lost if the cache is cleared.
- Export data as CSV for tax preparation. Consult a tax professional for complex filings or actual expense deductions.
- Clipboard access requires HTTPS. If copying fails, try accessing over HTTPS or copy manually.
- The tracker assumes the standard mileage rate ($0.70/mile for 2025) for simplicity. [](https://mileiq.com/mileage-guide/gig-work-tax-deductions)
