Faraday’s Law Calculator

Faraday’s Law Calculator

Faraday’s Law Calculator computes the electromotive force (EMF) induced in a coil based on Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction. Input the number of turns, initial and final magnetic flux, time interval, select their units, and calculate the induced EMF.

Enter Parameters

How to Use Faraday’s Law Calculator:

  1. Enter the number of turns (N), initial and final magnetic flux (Φ_B_initial, Φ_B_final), and time interval (Δt) using the keypad or direct input; use “Next” to switch fields.
  2. Select appropriate units for magnetic flux (Wb, mWb, µWb) and time interval (s, ms).
  3. Click “Calculate” to see step-by-step results.
  4. Use “Share Result” to get shareable text or “Copy Result” to copy to clipboard.

Formula:

Induced EMF (ε):

ε = -N (dΦ_B / dt)

Where: ε = induced EMF (V), N = number of turns, dΦ_B / dt = (Φ_B_final – Φ_B_initial) / Δt (Wb/s)

Important Notes:

  • Inputs for number of turns and time interval must be positive numbers. Magnetic flux can be zero or positive. Invalid inputs will trigger an error.
  • The calculator assumes a uniform magnetic field and constant rate of change of flux.
  • Clipboard access requires a secure context (HTTPS). If copying fails, try accessing over HTTPS or copy manually.
