How to Use the Language Learning Progress Calculator

Note: Progress is estimated using vocabulary size as a primary indicator, aligned with CEFR levels (A1: ~500 words, A2: ~1000, B1: ~2000, B2: ~4000, C1: ~8000, C2: ~16000). Study hours and sessions provide context for time estimates. Consistency and practice are key!

Example Calculation

Inputs: Language = Spanish, Vocabulary = 1200 words, Hours Studied = 60, Sessions = 30, Daily Hours = 2

Calculations:

• Current Level: A2 (~1000 words), Progress to B1 (2000 words): $\frac{1200 – 1000}{2000 – 1000} \times 100 = 20\%$
• Words Remaining to B1: $2000 – 1200 = 800 \, \text{words}$
• Estimated Hours to B1: $800 \div 10 = 80 \, \text{hours}$ (assuming 10 words/hour)
• Days to B1: $80 \div 2 = 40 \, \text{days}$
