Poker Hand Strength Analyzer

Poker Hand Strength Analyzer

Evaluate the strength of your Texas Hold’em poker hand based on hole cards strength, board texture, position at table, and opponent aggression.

1 = weak (e.g., 7-2o), 5 = strong (e.g., AA)
1 = dry (uncoordinated), 5 = wet (draw-heavy)
1 = early (UTG), 5 = late (button)
1 = passive, 5 = aggressive

Formulas Used

The Hand Strength Score is calculated using a weighted formula assessing hole cards strength, board texture, position at table, and opponent aggression.

  1. Board-Position Synergy Score:

    \\[ S_{\text{synergy}} = \max\left(0, 5 – \frac{|B – (6 – P)|}{2}\right) \\]

    Where \\( B \\) is board texture and \\( P \\) is position. Measures how well position aligns with board (e.g., late position is stronger on dry boards).

  2. Aggression Adjustment Factor:

    \\[ A_{\text{adj}} = 5 – \frac{O}{2} \\]

    Where \\( O \\) is opponent aggression. Reduces score against aggressive opponents.

  3. Raw Hand Strength Score:

    \\[ S_{\text{raw}} = w_1 H + w_2 S_{\text{synergy}} + w_3 A_{\text{adj}} \\]

    Where:

    • \\( H \\): Hole cards strength (1–5)
    • \\( S_{\text{synergy}} \\): Board-position synergy score
    • \\( A_{\text{adj}} \\): Aggression adjustment factor
    • \\( w_1 = 10 \\): Weight for hole cards
    • \\( w_2 = 5 \\): Weight for synergy
    • \\( w_3 = 5 \\): Weight for aggression adjustment

  4. Hand Strength Score:

    \\[ \text{HSS} = \max\left(0, \min\left(100, \frac{S_{\text{raw}}}{100} \cdot 100\right)\right) \\]

    Normalizes the raw score to 0–100. Ratings: Weak (0–25), Fair (25–50), Strong (50–75), Very Strong (75–100).

Example Calculations

Example 1: Strong Pocket Pair

Inputs: Hole Cards Strength = 5 (e.g., A♠ A♥), Board Texture = 1 (dry, e.g., 7♣ 3♦ 2♥), Position = 5 (button), Opponent Aggression = 2

Calculations:

  • Board-Position Synergy Score: \\[ \max\left(0, 5 – \frac{|1 – (6-5)|}{2}\right) = \max(0, 5 – \frac{|1-1|}{2}) = 5 \\]
  • Aggression Adjustment Factor: \\[ 5 – \frac{2}{2} = 5 – 1 = 4 \\]
  • Raw Hand Strength Score: \\[ 10 \cdot 5 + 5 \cdot 5 + 5 \cdot 4 = 50 + 25 + 20 = 95 \\]
  • Hand Strength Score: \\[ \frac{95}{100} \cdot 100 = 95 \\]
  • Rating: Very Strong (75–100)

Result: Hand Strength Score: 95 (Very Strong)

Example 2: Marginal Hand

Inputs: Hole Cards Strength = 2 (e.g., 8♠ 7♠), Board Texture = 4 (wet, e.g., J♥ 10♥ 9♣), Position = 2 (early), Opponent Aggression = 4

Calculations:

  • Board-Position Synergy Score: \\[ \max\left(0, 5 – \frac{|4 – (6-2)|}{2}\right) = \max(0, 5 – \frac{|4-4|}{2}) = 5 \\]
  • Aggression Adjustment Factor: \\[ 5 – \frac{4}{2} = 5 – 2 = 3 \\]
  • Raw Hand Strength Score: \\[ 10 \cdot 2 + 5 \cdot 5 + 5 \cdot 3 = 20 + 25 + 15 = 60 \\]
  • Hand Strength Score: \\[ \frac{60}{100} \cdot 100 = 60 \\]
  • Rating: Strong (50–75)

Result: Hand Strength Score: 60 (Strong)

Example 3: Weak Hand

Inputs: Hole Cards Strength = 1 (e.g., 7♣ 2♦), Board Texture = 5 (wet, e.g., K♥ Q♥ 10♥), Position = 1 (UTG), Opponent Aggression = 5

Calculations:

  • Board-Position Synergy Score: \\[ \max\left(0, 5 – \frac{|5 – (6-1)|}{2}\right) = \max(0, 5 – \frac{|5-5|}{2}) = 5 \\]
  • Aggression Adjustment Factor: \\[ 5 – \frac{5}{2} = 5 – 2.5 = 2.5 \\]
  • Raw Hand Strength Score: \\[ 10 \cdot 1 + 5 \cdot 5 + 5 \cdot 2.5 = 10 + 25 + 12.5 = 47.5 \\]
  • Hand Strength Score: \\[ \frac{47.5}{100} \cdot 100 = 47.5 \\]
  • Rating: Fair (25–50)

Result: Hand Strength Score: 47.5 (Fair)

How to Use the Analyzer

Follow these steps to evaluate your Texas Hold’em poker hand strength:

  1. Enter Hole Cards Strength: Rate your two hole cards (1–5, 1 = weak like 7-2o, 5 = strong like AA).
  2. Enter Board Texture: Rate the community cards (1–5, 1 = dry/uncoordinated like 7♣ 3♦ 2♥, 5 = wet/draw-heavy like K♥ Q♥ 10♥).
  3. Enter Position at Table: Rate your position (1–5, 1 = early like UTG, 5 = late like button).
  4. Enter Opponent Aggression: Rate opponent behavior (1–5, 1 = passive, 5 = aggressive).
  5. Calculate: Click “Calculate Hand Strength Score” to see the result.
  6. Interpret Result: The result shows a 0–100 score with a rating (Weak: 0–25, Fair: 25–50, Strong: 50–75, Very Strong: 75–100). If you see “Please fill in all fields,” ensure all inputs are valid.
  7. Share or Embed: Use the share buttons to post results on social media, copy the result, or get an embed code.

Note: This is a simplified model for Texas Hold’em. Actual hand strength depends on specific cards, pot odds, stack sizes, and opponent ranges. Use poker tools or study hand rankings for precise analysis.
