How to Use Reaction Order Calculator:
- Enter the initial concentrations of reactants A and B and the initial rates for two experiments using the keypad or direct input; use “Next” to switch fields.
- Select appropriate units for concentrations (M, mM) and rates (M/s, mM/s).
- Ensure one reactant’s concentration changes between experiments while the other remains constant for accurate order calculation.
- Click “Calculate” to see step-by-step results.
- Use “Share Result” to get shareable text or “Copy Result” to copy to clipboard.

Rate Law:
Rate = k [A]^m [B]^n
Order with respect to A (m):
m = log(Rate₂ / Rate₁) / log([A]₂ / [A]₁)
Order with respect to B (n):
n = log(Rate₂ / Rate₁) / log([B]₂ / [B]₁)
Rate Constant (k):
k = Rate / ([A]^m [B]^n)
Where: [A], [B] = concentrations (mol/L), Rate = initial rate (mol/L·s), m, n = reaction orders, k = rate constant
Important Notes:
- Inputs for concentrations and rates must be positive numbers. Rates must be non-zero.
- For accurate results, ensure [B] is constant when calculating m, and [A] is constant when calculating n between experiments.
- Results are rounded to two decimal places for reaction orders and four for the rate constant.
