Dipole Moment Calculator
Dipole Moment Calculator computes the magnetic dipole moment of a current-carrying coil. Input the number of turns, current, coil area, select units, and calculate the magnetic dipole moment.

How to Use Dipole Moment Calculator:
- Enter the number of turns (N), current (I), and coil area (A) using the keypad or direct input; use “Next” to switch fields.
- Select appropriate units for current (A, mA) and area (m², cm²). Number of turns is dimensionless.
- Click “Calculate” to see step-by-step results for the magnetic dipole moment.
- Use “Share Result” to get shareable text or “Copy Result” to copy to clipboard.
Formula:
Magnetic Dipole Moment (μ):
μ = N × I × A
Where: μ = magnetic dipole moment (A·m²), N = number of turns, I = current (A), A = coil area (m²)
Important Notes:
- Inputs for number of turns and area must be positive. Current can be positive or negative (indicating direction). Invalid inputs (e.g., non-integer or negative turns) will trigger an error.
- The calculator assumes a planar coil with uniform current. For complex geometries, compute the effective area manually.
- Clipboard access requires a secure context (HTTPS). If copying fails, try accessing over HTTPS or copy manually.
